The #1 Seed of Every Tournament - Part 2
Fanzone
2019 - Kaleb Koho?
The 2019 season saw a technically unseeded Fanzone tournament, but the number one seed can be determined from the most confusing season of anything ever, the 2018 Fanzone season. I’m still confused, but Kaleb Koho won his only match with the highest vote percentage, meaning he would claim the #1 seed of the 2019 tournament. The tournament would eventually be won by Tim Brzakala, who defeated Robert Parker in the finals to become the first ever Fanzone champion.
2021 - Kirk Kowalkowski
In 2020, Kirk had a killer debut season that would set the tone for the rest of his career. At 3-1 with a perfect game under his belt, Kirk’s only loss was in a contender match against Robert Parker. This allowed him the #1 seed in 2021. Well deserved, because he would go on to win the thing, and the belt, defeating the #14 seed Amaru Moses in the finals.
2023 - Bill Cariola
Bill Cariola was the hotshot Fanzone rookie coming out of 2022, with a title challenge already accomplished. This planted him firmly at #1 in 2023, but he saw an early exit in round two to the #8 seed Kaleb Koho. The tournament was all over the place, and completely unpredictable. The #3 seed Cameron Holzmann would go on to win, defeating the #5 seed Caleb Boatman in the finals.
2024 - Kirk Kowalkowski
The Fanzone tournament of 2024 will finally see the return of Kirk Kowalkowski. After losing his belt to Cody Newberry at the beginning of 2023, his only other match was a rematch at the end of 2023, which he also lost. Coming into 2024, Kirk is angry, and hungry. Hangry if you will. Can he climb back to the top?
*The 2020 and 2022 were entirely rookie tournaments and therefore unseeded. They were won by Nicholas Twohig and Bill Cariola, respectively.
