2025 Comeback Players of the Year Predictions
Javi Madan
There are now more than a few people who won rookie of the year, only to follow it up with a less than stellar season. Javi can join that club. After a breakout rookie season in 2022, 2023 was a tough time for Javi. With hard losses to Albert Wiradharma, Antonio Chavez, and Ryan Payne, Javi ended at 1-3. He’s starting off 2024 very close to a title with a great chance at getting there. However, I believe even if that doesn’t work out he will take the rest of the year to bounce back.
Jeremy Potters
Jeremy had a solid foundation of knowledge. He could build upon that to up his game, or he may be very similar to Nazario, someone who always has a slightly above or slightly below average season. I believe this will either be the year Jeremy becomes a breakout star, or at the very least has a slightly above average season following his slightly below one of 2023.
Igor Kasic
Igor was one of the best Fandom rookies, bar none. His losses were warranted: Bill Cariola in sudden death when Bill had over a 90% accuracy game; David Garcia and Tyler Burch in a triple threat; and Cameron Holzmann in pursuit of the final title picture. He was the only low seed to win in round one of the Triples Crown Tournament, but ended the year at 2-3. Playing people at a similar record, I think Igor is set up very well not only to make it a positive record, but possibly by a large margin.
Dean Manness
Dean showed a lot of promise in his rookie season, just without the results needed to land a rookie of the year nomination. Many people agree that his record doesn’t reflect his ability. I tend to agree. His losses were a comeback win from Payson in his debut, a loss to Igor Kasic, and one more to Dylan Vanthuyne, that quite frankly Dylan was supposed to lose until he came out and missed two questions. The good thing about being a good player with a bad record, is you tend to play others on a level below you ability, which is right where Dean will be in 2024.
Joe Farrelly
It’s hard to believe it, but 2023 was the first year in his career where Joe Farrelly ended the season with a negative record. Granted, there’s a big asterisk by that, and that asterisk’s name is Brittani Tapley. Joe lost to Brittani in two title matches, and one contender match. He ended at 2-3 but also had a team championship, and impressive wins over Cameron Holzmann and Amaru Moses. He was still nominated for player of the year, but if we see Joe have another year like 2022, then that’s one heck of a comeback.
